As part of its community involvement, AMS Contractors, Inc. became a sponsor of Carolinas Medical Center-Union’s annual Tickled Pink for Breast Cancer event. The proceeds from the event were donated to the Edwards Cancer Center at CMC-Union to benefit uninsured and underserved women fighting breast cancer in Union County.
“I continue to see many breast cancer patients who are having to make tough choices when it comes to their treatment because they simply can’t afford it,” says Donna Little, Oncology Program Manager at Carolinas Medical Center-Union. “For some women, it’s a choice between getting treatment or paying their monthly bills. No one should be faced with these types of decisions.”
“This is such an important issue that we at AMS are proud to have helped with their efforts,” said Sharon Hager, vice-president and CFO of AMS Contractors, Inc.
This year’s event featured comedic performances by Sonya White and Julie Scoggins. Ms. White has appeared on Country Music Television’s Southern Fried Chicks, Last Comic Standing and Star Search. Ms. Scoggins, a local comedian from Mint Hill, North Carolina, performs in comedy clubs throughout the country.
In addition to the comedy show, the event included a silent auction, merchandise sales, breast cancer awareness education and a Bras for the Cause Contest awards presentation. WBTV’s John Carter and Molly Grantham served as emcees for the evening.
AMS Contractors, Inc. prides itself on its community involvement and being a “Laugh Sponsor” for the Tickled Pink for Breast Cancer event is such an important effort for Union County.
